The Past Outgrows You If You Don’t Outgrow The Past (2021)

Installation
circa 4 x 4 x 2 metres
Hand-dyed, sewn and embroidered fabric, recycled stuffing,
vacuum air filling & found objects.

This installation is a large-scale replica of my childhood teddybear, created to address the symbiotic relationship between childhood and present. Set in a nostalgic environment which it has physically outgrown, it dominates the space it once had a set place in. This work is a form of dwelling, formulating the inevitable permeation of past ideas, thoughts and feelings into the present and speaking to an inner child that is materialised as monumental.

Polaroid portraits of myself and the installation.
