‘Ultra-Candid’ (since 2020)

Collection of Digital Images

A selection of images from an ongoing research project that captures moments in which individuals attempt to take control over the digital landscape on Google Street View by uploading their own footage to the map, often in areas of digital deserts or conflict which are not documented by Google themselves. The strange enmeshment of the captors bodies with the landscape that occurs points to a sort-of temporal collapse, where the ruggedness of the human uploader and the rigidity of digital mapping collide, creating an uncanny layering of time.

I have scoured for, and downloaded over 500 of these images since 2020, maintaining them as a sort-of personal collection of stock images.
